UNCERTAINTY REMAINS AROUND THE UPCOMING BREXIT DECISION

MPs rejected Theresa May’s Brexit deal on 15 January 2019. They returned to the House of Commons on 29 January, and again on 14 February and 27 February, to debate the government’s response. However, uncertainty remains as to when the UK will actually leave the EU.

AHEAD OF THE GAME

At Amito, we’re aware of the impact this uncertainty is having on our valued customers. Many of which must ensure European data sovereignty. For some, this is a legal requirement. For others, there are elements of fear and risk. For example: fearing the loss of new or existing business. What if an organisation chooses not to do business with a company whose infrastructure sits outside of the EU? The outcomes are unclear.

For our European clients, one of which is the world’s leading provider of software and services – European data sovereignty is an essential requirement. With the heart of many of our customers’ businesses embedded within Europe – a departure of the EU isn’t an option for any of them.

Our dedication to delivering solutions that suit our clients’ needs perfectly, led us to drive forward the Amito infrastructure build within Germany. We have deployed our standardised cloud architecture within a Tier-3 data centre partner in Frankfurt. This maintains commonality for clients across all of our international locations and, importantly, ensures pricing consistency.

NO FEAR WITH AMITO

Whatever the outcome of Brexit in 2019, we’re giving our customers peace of mind through:
– Guaranteed European data sovereignty
– Maintaining our valuable customer relationships
– Avoiding infrastructure upheaval by providing customers with the EU presence they require

The impressive 60,000 sq ft data centre in Reading, Everest – announced on Monday 19 November they will be rebranding to Amito. The rebrand enables Amito to provide hybrid cloud solutions to new and existing customers with a need for cloud, colocation or connectivity.

Ed Butler, Amito CEO explains the real benefit of this merger:

“I’m delighted that we’re now able to offer our valuable clients an extension to their solutions. We’re also really excited about what the future holds for new clients with a requirement for experts in cloud, colocation or connectivity.”

CONNECTING CUSTOMERS TO THE HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER NETWORK ECOSYSTEMS IN LONDON

The combination of Crosspoint Colocation and Everest Data Centre’s expertise means Amito is able to offer customers cost-effective fractional racks within the likes of Equinix and Telehouse, London. Colocation is available all over the UK from the Amito flagship data centre in Reading to London, Slough and Manchester.

EXTENDING TO THE CLOUD

iCloudHosting brings powerful expertise in the cloud to the Amito brand. Uniquely, the entire infrastructure is designed, built and managed in-house by the team of Amito experts.

“It’s vital that we do not discard the importance of colocation to those who battle with restrictions such as security, compliance or complicated hardware when it comes to considering the cloud. The Amito hybrid cloud solution opens up opportunities to make the most of the cloud and colocation at the same time.”

Amito was officially established in 2018 and has 300+ customers from various industries. The company was derived from the merge of three organisations: Everest Data Centres, Crosspoint Colocation and iCloudHosting. The three organisations have combined expertise in cloud, colocation and connectivity. The Amito brand represents strength, agility and intelligence when it comes to the hybrid cloud solution they offer.

Data Hall 2 efficiency improvements

MAXIMISING EFFICIENCY OF DATA HALL 2 AT AMITO

As part of our continued efforts to increase the data centre efficiency, we’ve completed a programme of works to replace key components servicing Data Hall 2. The work was focused around replacing the UPS for the hall.

The UPS are arranged in a 2N configuration, and we replacement them without any interruption to service to our clients. We’re pleased with the positive improvements shown so far; the efficiency is significantly better, reducing our carbon footprint and allowing us to maintain and improve our industry-leading PUE score. As well as the obvious green benefits of reducing energy usage, it allows us to be one of the most competitive data centre operators.

If you would like to arrange a tour to see these improvements in person, please get in touch with us and we’d be delighted to arrange it.

Expansion at Amito

EXPANSION AT AMITO

It’s great to be able to give an update on further expansion at Amito at our Reading Link33 site. We have recently completed a project to install an extra 1.5 megawatts of cooling capacity and heat rejection. This additional capacity enables cooling for approximately 400 more racks. It is part of a process of continuous investment at the data centre and we look forward to providing further updates as we continue to grow.
