Bridging the gap between legacy-based environments and the cloud

BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN LEGACY-BASED ENVIRONMENTS AND THE CLOUD

Many organisations working in legacy environments are faced with challenges when it comes to cloud adoption and are often isolated from reaping the benefits of cloud. At Amito, we recognised that businesses were losing valuable time and money juggling multiple providers: with disconnected solutions and misaligned billing – organisational chaos was a real concern.

GOODBYE SCATTERED SOLUTIONS FOR LEGACY CUSTOMERS

The gap between traditional, legacy based environments and cloud was soon bridged with the merger of Crosspoint Colocation, Everest Data Centres and iCloudHosting in 2018. Specialising in cloud, colocation and connectivity – Amito offers clients one single provider to deliver their hybrid requirements. Gone are the days of scattered solutions for legacy customers.

Typically, legacy solutions restrict clients to their colocation environments – which makes future-proofing a tough task. With Amito, organisations can make good use of the cloud whilst maintaining their colocation environments through directly hooking into their public or private cloud solution.

Plus, Amito offer a single place for all of your solution requirements – with dedicated connections to other data centres and office-to-office connectivity. This collaborative approach eliminates the requirement to use multiple providers and platforms – saving you time and money.

TAKE CARE OF YOUR INFRASTRUCTURE – ANY TIME, ANY PLACE, ON ANY DEVICE

The ability to view and manage your infrastructure is just as important as the solution your infrastructure relies on. As such, Amito provide an intuitive customer portal that makes monitoring performance simple. This platform offers many features, from live power utilisation graphs for colocation equipment through to resource saturation analytics for cloud. This platform is also the location to raise and manage support tickets.

As a bonus for you, the customer portal will generate one bill a month which covers your entire solution offering – making your billing simple.

The Amito solution, which is available worldwide – to clients of all sizes and industries, has proven superior for its suitability, efficiency, service and experience – quoted and rated by clients.

This rebrand has been led by our passion to deliver the very best for our customers. We’re looking forward to the future and bridging the gap for many more clients who are seeking to future-proof their business.

LANDING AND EXPANDING IN THE UK

JT Jersey highlighted risks with this overseas expansion – such as; response times to issues, unmanageable technical failure and difficulty in taking care of their infrastructure remotely.

Hype Data Centre Journey

WHO ARE HYPE?

HYPE Innovation is one of the world’s leading providers of software and services for idea and innovation management. Companies work with a plethora of providers and follow numerous approaches to generate future options: idea campaigns, open innovation, insights scouting, startup relationships, intrapreneurship, and much more. Typically, these initiatives run in isolation. HYPE offers clients an integrated solution – HYPE Enterprise. This solution is a value creation hub, allowing all innovation activities to be tracked on a unified platform.

MODERNISE AND MAXIMISE

Having worked with physical monolithic servers, Hype decided it was time to modernise their infrastructure and switch to virtual machines. Originally, Hype used an all-in-one server approach to host their infrastructure. They were seeking a more resilient and secure solution which would in turn prove more cost effective. As part of the modernisation process, Hype set some strict requirements to have features such as; DDoS protection, IDS/IPS systems, flexible backup options, dynamically adjustable resources and proactive support.

WHAT DID HYPE FIND?

Having clearly established their requirements, Hype created a RFI and took this with them on their hunt for the perfect cloud provider.

Amito responded promptly to Hype’s RFI, exceeding expectations for most of their requirements. The bespoke agreements that Amito put forward were also big ticks for Hype, offering great flexibility – putting Amito ahead of some large competitors. As an added bonus, Amito proved extremely competitive in price.

With the Amito solution, Hype were able to extend their infrastructure to a 3 tier setup: a web server, application server and a database server, all running behind a firewall and Amito’s DDoS protection screen. This kind of setup offered high security and additional scalability.

IMPECCABLE IMPLEMENTATION

Adding further reassurance in the Amito solution, Hype were offered a free test server to check if the performance matched their requirements – which it did!
The implementation process continued and ran smoothly. Any challenges the Amito team were faced with were overcome rapidly.

WITH AMITO, HYPE HAVE…

A much more robust software service

Significantly reduced response time with proactive support

Implemented new processes and automation

Maintenance outside of business hours

Built strong security and resilience against disaster

Vitally, the Amito solution has opened up new customer opportunities for Hype. Since they’re now able to support encryption at rest and offer a reliable disaster recovery model, Hype can supply services to customers who were previously out of reach.

Hype would recommend Amito to other organisations searching for a cloud provider. In particular, for the level of technical expertise, flexibility and the attractive pricing. Hype have also been really impressed with the overall performance of the Amito solution.

Bigstep Data Centre Journey

WHO ARE BIGSTEP?

Bigstep is an all-in-one Big Data solution that provides answers to all data-related questions, regardless of industry vertical. Bigstep is set out to empower organisations determined to make sense of their data by providing a full-stack big data ecosystem that can run in a high-performance bare-metal cloud, or in a hybrid environment. It offers an all-in-one big data solution built for both SMBs and enterprise – regardless of the volume, velocity or type of data.

SEARCHING: THE UK FOR A COLOCATION SOLUTION

Bigstep started out providing bare-metal cloud solutions to their clients in Romania. They soon found out that the cloud market was vast – with stiff competition from the likes of AWS, Google and Azure. Luckily for Bigstep, they realised the potential in a more niche solution…
Bigstep repositioned themselves in the marketplace as full-metal cloud providers for Big Data apps. Bigstep were setting out to target the UK market and as such required a strong UK data centre presence.

…and so the search began.

FOUND: A UK-BASED, STAND-OUT SOLUTION

As a start-up, Bigstep needed a flexible partner that could understand their needs and support the growth of their business effectively. Amito stood out from competitors for many reasons. However, one highlight for Bigstep was the focus Amito had and continue to have on providing such a high-quality service.

Since Bigstep are based in Romania, the quality of remote service and support played a vital role in their decision. Bigstep were impressed with Amito’s understanding of their business and the flexibility they would offer to deploy equipment professionally on their behalf. This solved a real headache for Bigstep’s technical team, saving them from expensive trips to the data centre or from having to engage another service provider to work onsite on their behalf. For Bigstep, the initial implementation process went smoothly. They were particularly thrilled with the Amito team who they have quoted as ‘very knowledgeable, responsive and professional’.

WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM AMITO…

Since implementation, Bigstep have benefitted greatly from the Amito solution. From the high quality colocation and connectivity services to the remote hands support – Bigstep would highly recommend Amito to those searching for a colocation solution. To be more specific, Bigstep would highly recommend Amito to overseas clients looking for a secure, well-supported and reliable colocation solution in the UK.

Most importantly, Bigstep are seeing excellent returns on their investment with Amito. Most impressively, they have seen their client portfolio expand. They can focus on their core business and not their infrastructure and so are predicting further expansion in the near future.

Is colocation a thing of the past?

IS COLOCATION A THING OF THE PAST?

Cloud is all around us and with the technology world talking cloud-cloud-cloud, where does the conversation go when we start talking colocation?

It’s a common misconception that colocation is a ‘thing of the past’. As per Gartner’s article ‘The Data Centre is Dead’. In fact, this is far from the case. There are many organisations out there who are not yet making the BIG move to the cloud.

There are customers who still require colocation. Here’s some of the reasons we’ve discovered…

– Some customers have legacy applications which can’t be virtualised or are unduly complicated. As such, the cloud isn’t an appropriate solution for them.

– After having spent thousands or maybe even hundreds of thousands of pounds on their own existing infrastructure, these customers are unlikely to want to move to the cloud for a while.

– With many customers having unique hardware requirements and the need to control their own infrastructure, they too will not suit a move to the cloud.

– Security and compliance – whilst our public cloud services are highly secure and our private cloud provides the reassurance of dedicated infrastructure, there are some situations where the physical access of equipment must remain under the complete control of the customer.

For those who are faced with these barriers, we know we’re able to provide them with a bespoke colocation solution to perfectly fit their requirements.

WE KNOW HOW IMPORTANT COLOCATION IS.

From Reading to London and Slough – we’ve got a wealth of colocation availability in the UK.

A snippet of our data centre benefits:
– Flexibility: There’s flexibility to scale-up and scale-down when required.
– Resilience: We provide A+B power and network connectivity plus backup generators and battery power.
– Security: From iris scanners to HD CCTV – we’ve got the very best in on-site security.

Our colocation options extend to the most desired network ecosystems within Equinix and Telehouse. We’re pleased to be able to offer our customers fractional racks in these locations at the most cost-effective price points.

HYBRID CLOUD COULD BE THE OPTION.

There are some instances where customers are able to partly virtualise their infrastructure. This is great news because these customers can make the most of what a hybrid-cloud solution can offer.

The benefits? Hybrid cloud gives customers flexibility to benefit from the cloud whilst still implementing a colocation solution where required. Hybrid cloud gives the customer an opportunity to move elements of their infrastructure to the cloud in stages, when it suits them.

You can find out more about colocation and hybrid cloud with Amito by contacting us today. Alternatively, browse our website for more information.
