20 Years of Docklands Colocation @ #LINX105

Amito’s Director of Business Development for Colocation, Tim Anker, will be presenting his perspectives on the past 20 years in the London colocation market at the LINX105 member conference and AGM on Thursday 30th May. LINX is one of the largest peering exchanges in the world with 880 connected members.

Tim’s first visit to Telehouse took place in March 1999; “Our original rack in Telehouse had a solid glass door and a “whopping” 350Watts delivered via a single power feed” said Tim, recounting those early days.

Amito are long standing LINX members and Amito’s secure, dedicated ¼ and ½ rack solutions are extremely popular amongst LINX members who are able to access key network ecosystems such as Telehouse, Equinix LD8 or LD5 without the cost of a full rack by using Amito’s partial rack solutions.

Amito counts over 40 LINX members as clients, ranging from numerous regional UK ISP’s to some of the world’s largest carriers and about a third of these clients are from overseas locations as far apart as Nepal or South Africa.

Tim’s presentation will review both the changes we have seen in the Docklands and London colocation market over the past 20 years as well looking at some of the more recent trends such as the staggering growth in hyperscale cloud demand, which has seen a doubling of total annual data centre take-up in London.

“The London colocation market remains the largest in Europe by a long way and continues to evolve.  Its been a privilege to have been involved for the past 20 years” said Tim.
